Styling a Blazer: Stylist Devin

As Kathy mentioned in her blog post, we, the A La Mode Stylists, are going to be showing you how each of us style a blazer in our personal style! I really love this concept because it shows all our different styles and can help you to further define your own personal style.

I am a huge blazer fan! I think you can do so much with them and they really are a timeless piece. Since my style doesn't usually cater towards the classic blazer, I tend to go for the fun, statement, unique blazer! I chose to highlight my fabulous pink blazer from Something Navy! I'm usually not a pink girl but this one stood out to me for some reason and you have to try it when it catches your eye! This is from the first collection that was released at Nordstrom and I was beyond excited for it, as I'm a big Something Navy fan. When I tried on this blazer, it fit me so well. I fell in love with the length of it as well as the shape. Blazers are typically a hard item to find for my body shape as I'm only 5'2" tall, broad, busty and have an apple shape. The shape of this particular one created a beautiful waistline on me that blazers usually hide. The length of it also didn't cut me off in a weird place and I feel like it makes my legs look longer, especially when I wear a pair of high waisted jeans with it.

Now, onto how I chose to style this blazer! I'm all about a graphic tee and a pair of jeans with blazers. I think it's a look that every person can pull off. I wanted a tee that had some pink it in, so I chose one from Topshop with Frida Kahlo on it. Unfortunately I couldn't find this exact tee, but I found this one and it's on sale! I chose a distressed, light-washed, straight leg jean to make this look a bit more edgy. Since the blazer makes this look more dressed up, I wanted a shoe to compliment that, so I chose a pair of white pointed toe heels. I'm all about taking a look from day to night, and this look is perfect for that! Also, the light colors I chose make it much more springy!

We would love to see how you style a blazer!

Until next time,

Devin
