Stylist Saturday: Kathy (2020 Holiday Attire)

'Twas the days before Christmas and all through the house the family was stirring and walking about. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care in hopes that next year we'd have a party to share.

The holidays will be quiet this year. I'm coming to accept it. One thing I've learned in life is that being able to be comfortable with yourself in the quiet, is a gift. That is the approach I am embracing this year. I want to show my son, who's a senior in high school, that we can embrace the quiet and have just as special or even a more treasured Christmas by not looking at what we are missing but, looking at what we have that is a blessing. There truly are so many things to be grateful for.

I don't have a party to attend this year. So...dressing up may consist of my new PJs. But, I am directing the children's morning music at my church this Sunday and this is what I will be wearing. If life were in normal conditions, I would wear this to a Holiday party or dinner.

I found these pants at a thrift store last winter still with the tags on them. They have been sitting all year in my closet for the Holidays. They are from The Limited (which went out of business about three years ago.) I love the gold and black houndstooth print with a shiny-sheen finish. They truly give that "holiday" vibe. Because the pants really are the statement piece of my outfit, I paired them with simply black; a black knit top and a black blazer. To break up the solid black top I accessorized with a cluster of brooches that were once my mothers.

The brooches are adding a bit of Holiday red and their gold finish is playing off of the gold houndstooth in the pants. This makes for a unique finishing touch. I also chose black patent pumps. (Say that three times!)

When creating a Holiday look, I like to incorporate textures and a bit of shimmer and sparkle. We've got it here.

Although this season is different than those of previous. I wish you peace and joy and a blessed New Year!
