Stylist Saturday: Tall Boots

I am so excited about this style segment that the À La Mode team is doing for social media. Although tall boots haven't as often been my go-to the last couple of years, they remain in the closet. As Stylist Devin said, they're not trendy, they're a classic. I have always kept a riding boot on hand in cognac and black, but over-the knee is what I am going to focus on for today's Stylist Saturday blog.

When I work with women, especially those in their mid-30's to 50's, I always want to encourage that they own something that makes them feel sexy. This word can often be misconstrued, though. I am not talking about things that are revealing, but rather, pieces in a wardrobe that give the wearer a sense of poise and confidence.

For myself, it's an over-the-knee black suede boot. It defines the leg line, giving a sleek, elevated appearance. I remember admiring this (similar) style boot a couple of years ago as my husband and I shopped at Mall of America (how I miss those days right now!!). It was the end of a Christmas season and I spotted a pair of I.N.C (was pleasantly surprised with this brand as I rarely/never use it) with a lacing at the back. I tried them on just for fun but Keith could tell that they made me feel extra special and encouraged that we bring them home with us.

It was a learning moment for both myself as a person and a stylist. The importance for us as women to feel elevated beyond our daily wear is something we ALL need. I'm not saying it has to be a pair of over-the-knee suede boots, but a piece that makes you feel, YOU!! Maybe it's a beautiful set of pearls on your collarbone. Maybe it's the perfect fitting little black dress. Whatever it is, make sure you feel like you can run the world while wearing it!
