Local Boutique Spotlight: LOCAL MOTION BOUTIQUE

Feature Boutique: LOCAL MOTION BOUTIQUE

I was in the neighborhood and I googled "local boutiques". Local Motion Boutique came up in the search. I had been meaning to check it out for several months and here it was in the neighborhood I was working in that day.

Entering the deep storefront, I saw that the outer walls were lined with clothing hanging on both sides. Jewelry and accessories were displayed on tables down the center of the room. There was so much to see and take in. (A girl's heaven!) I went to the north wall and started looking through the rack. I gathered a handful of items to try on. I left that day with a mock suede moto jacket and a black & white plaid stretch denim jacket; both were unique to my wardrobe.

That was two weeks ago and today I went back.

Greeted by a friendly smile and good conversation, Lisa, who works at the store told me a little about the area and the history of the store. Local Motion has been a part of the Uptown Minneapolis neighborhood for over 30 years. Last Spring the store owner of those thirty-some years sold LOCAL MOTION to Tonya Bryan. Tonya had been a frequent customer and when she heard that the store was possibly going to close, she stepped up to keep it in the neighborhood.

Today, as I looked around I saw items I recognized from two weeks past. But, for the most part, the product line had turned over considerably. I was pleasantly surprised to see so much fresh product.

Lisa pulled out this coat by SingDeuane with mixed textures and embroidered details. ($199) It had just arrived and we were both in awe of the craftmanship.

LOCAL MOTION carries local designer's products. These are unique, sometimes, one-of-a-kind pieces.

This rose print silk blouse is by local designer Kokoon ($118). This Velvet jacket with peplum detail is by Mystree ($102).

This long soft tunic is a design by local designer, Laura Hlavac. ($78) The embroidery details are purposeful in there placement, providing flattering lines for the female figure. You can't see it in this photo but, there's a hood on the back that is lined with a bold print of red, gray and black. It's these types of details that make the clothing at LOCAL MOTION special and unique.

This boutique has so much to offer, from luggage to jewelry to shoes. But, that's not all. They not only support local designers but, they also support local artists. All the original paintings on the walls are for sale, too.

L'ARTISE shoes ($98)

I've found my new favorite store!!

I can't wait to go back in a couple weeks and see what is fresh in the store again.
