Local Boutique Spotlight: LULA
Feature Boutique: LULA VINTAGE CLOTHING

Today I am showcasing a store very different than I have in the past. Today I am taking you to LULA Vintage Clothing store in St. Paul. Many of you know that I love thrift store shopping. One of the main reasons I love thrifting is knowing that the items I find are from seasons past and will translate to a look that is original, like a one-of-a-kind piece. So when I entered Lula's today, I was excited to see all the textures and fabrics from a time gone by. Lula's specializes in clothing 25 years and older. It is truly vintage.

I began to thumb through the front racks looking for my size. I wear a size 10/12 dress but, I only found six pieces in that size catagory. If I'd had a 28 inch waist, I would have walked out of the store with an arm load! The sales person told me that the demand for sizes over a size 8 is in high and therefore, those sizes get depleated quickly.
I took the six pieces to the fitting room. Here's what I found.

1960's torquoise knit dress - $55
1960's plaid wool jumper - $55
1950's green/torquoise floral - $120

This 1950's green and torquoise floral dress was my favorite. I was in love with the fabric and print and would have loved to talk myself into purchasing it, if it would have fit. But, the fact that there was an inch and a half of flesh in the way of zipping this dress up, forced me to make the right decision. Shirt dresses have never been the most flattering style for me. They accent my broad shoulders and chest. But, I tell ya, I could have walked onto the set of Andy Griffith's Mayberry and fit right in!

Black straw hat - $35
Lula's has a fun selection of vintage purses, hats and jewelry, too. There's also menswear!
I will be back to Lula's to check out their selection again. If you love vintage, it's a fun place to find that original looking piece.
